Pape Thiaw : «Parfois Krépin Diatta voit flou»
When announcing his squad for the November FIFA international window on Thursday, national team coach Pape Thiaw addressed the situation of key players left out due to injury. "Krépin Diatta took a knock in his last match. Sometimes his vision is blurry," the coach explained regarding the Monaco defender, as reported by Record.
Thiaw continued: "The period of unavailability is between 15 and 20 days. I chose to let him rest. We discussed it with his medical staff and the player himself. He's a patriot, who gives his all. Health is the priority. We're leaving him at the disposal of his club to continue his treatment. He's not fit to play."
What about Lamine Camara (Monaco) and Habib Diarra (Sunderland)? "I'm not worried" about them, declares the Lions' coach. "We know these two players. They're doing their rehabilitation. Habib is even ahead of schedule. We're monitoring them closely, checking in on them regularly. I'm even supposed to see Habib during our stay in England; he had surgery. Let's hope they're available for selection."
But Pape Thiaw warns: "There's no guarantee they'll be on the list [for the AFCON] because choices will have to be made. I'd like to have all the players healthy. It's certain I'll have problems choosing the 26 players. But I prefer that problem to seeing players get injured."
