Paris Saint-Germain : Pierre Ménès évoque un possible départ d’Ibrahim Mbaye
Ibrahim Mbaye's situation at Paris Saint-Germain is raising more and more questions. Having seen little playing time in the league since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, despite being an African champion, the player is going through a difficult period in the French capital.
Having missed PSG's resounding 5-2 victory over Chelsea FC in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie, the young Senegalese striker appears to be losing ground in the attacking hierarchy of Luis Enrique's team. This situation is already fueling rumors of a possible departure during the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to journalist Pierre Ménès, the Parisian player's future could lie away from the Parc des Princes if his situation does not improve quickly.
According to him, the striker is suffering in particular from a problem of positioning within the Parisian squad. “God knows Luis Enrique is fumbling around in attack, but indeed, Ibrahima Mbaye doesn’t seem to be getting an invitation. I think if this continues, he will leave the club for another destination next season,” the journalist believes.
Pierre Ménès also points out that Mbaye shares the same profile as several attacking players at PSG, which complicates his integration into the Spanish coach's system.
"Mbaye's problem is that, like Bradley Barcola and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, he is much more comfortable on the left than on the right. However, PSG's problem since the beginning of the season has been finding a player who performs well on the right side," he analyzes.
The journalist also mentions Désiré Doué as a possible candidate for the position, while highlighting his lack of consistency this season.
Despite the hopes raised by his performances at the Africa Cup of Nations, Mbaye is currently struggling to establish himself permanently in the Paris Saint-Germain squad. If the current trend continues, a move during the next transfer window could become a serious option to revive his career.
