Paris sportifs et arbitrage : le football turc secoué par un gros scandale
Several European media outlets have revealed the news: Turkish football is rocked by a vast sports betting scandal involving numerous referees.
According to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), 371 of the 571 referees working in professional leagues have accounts on sports betting platforms. Of these, 152 are actively betting, and 42 have reportedly placed bets on more than 1,000 matches individually.
In response to these revelations, the president of the Turkish Football Federation, Ibrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, affirmed his determination to "cleanse football of all traces of corruption, without exception." Despite the Turkish football boss's determination to crack down on the culprits, this scandal risks discrediting Turkish football.
