"Pas d’autre alternative": la direction du Stade Rennais justifie l'éviction d'Habib Beye
Following Habib Beye's dismissal earlier this week, Sébastien Tambouret will take over as interim manager for Stade Rennais this Friday's clash against PSG, pending the appointment of a new coach. President Arnaud Pouille explained the situation.
He lasted a year on the Stade Rennais bench, amassing 18 wins, seven draws, and 14 losses in 39 matches. Already under pressure in the heart of autumn, Habib Beye finally left on Monday. As explained by RMC Sport, the reasons were disappointing results, controversial management, and an untenable atmosphere within the club. Looking ahead, a clear favorite has emerged: Franck Haise, available since the end of his time at Nice.
In a press conference on Thursday, Rennes president Arnaud Pouille confirmed only one thing: Sébastien Tambouret, the usual reserve coach, will take over as interim manager and lead the clash against PSG this Friday (7pm).
"Not a pleasant situation to be in"
"After a turbulent week, as you know, we communicated on Monday. We made the decision this weekend to initiate proceedings against Habib Beye and three of his deputies. The circumstances were compelling; we had no other alternative than to initiate these proceedings. It is not a pleasant situation to be in. The circumstances were such that we were forced to make this decision," Pouille explained to the media.
"For tomorrow's match, it became clear that Sébastien Tambouret would be in charge. His assistants will be Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre and Maxime Le Marchand. With this statement, we wanted to express our full confidence in them for this match against PSG," he explained, before calling on his players to regroup. "Tomorrow, and for the rest of the season, we will need to show a completely different side of ourselves than in recent matches. The players know this. We have told them repeatedly. We hope they will defend our colors in the best possible way," he concluded.
On a run of three league defeats, Rennes sits in sixth place in the standings before hosting the Parisian giants.
