Préparation Coupe du monde 2026 : l’Algérie fait tomber les Pays-Bas à Rotterdam
Algeria achieved a prestigious performance by defeating the Netherlands (1-0) on Wednesday in Rotterdam, in a friendly match in preparation for the 2026 World Cup. The Fennecs showed realism to overcome a Dutch team that had dominated for much of the match.
From the outset, the Oranje made their intentions clear. After just eight minutes, Donyell Malen hit the post with a right-footed shot, immediately putting the Algerian defense under pressure. The Dutch then launched attack after attack, but were thwarted by an excellent Luca Zidane. The Algerian goalkeeper made several crucial saves to keep his team in the game before halftime.
After returning from the locker room, the Netherlands continued their dominance and created several more clear-cut chances. Luca Zidane, in particular, distinguished himself against Justin Kluivert, confirming his crucial role in this match.
Just when it seemed the match was heading for a draw, Algeria struck late in the game. In the 86th minute, Moussa scored the only goal of the match with a superb curling shot into the far corner after cutting inside from the right wing.
Thanks to this prestigious victory, the Fennecs approach the 2026 World Cup with confidence, where they will compete in Group J alongside reigning world champions Argentina, Austria, and Jordan. The Netherlands, meanwhile, will be in Group F with Sweden, Japan, and Tunisia.
