Préparation de l’Équipe du Sénégal : Pape Thiaw convoque un nouveau joueur
After receiving the national flag, the Lions of Teranga will fly to the United States to face Team USA in a friendly match on Sunday, May 31. For this match, coach Pape Thiaw has decided to call up Pape Mamadou Sy, goalkeeper for FC Metz. According to Dsport, he will temporarily replace Yehvann Diouf.
A 29th Lion. Having already had to remove two players from the squad list before the FIFA deadline of June 2nd, Pape Thiaw has decided to bolster the national team with the call-up of Pape Mamadou Guèye. For the next few days, he will serve as the third-choice goalkeeper, pending the return of Yehvann Diouf, who is playing in the Ligue 1 relegation/promotion playoff against AS Saint-Étienne. On Tuesday, for the first leg, the Senegalese goalkeeper started in the 0-0 draw between the two teams. He is expected to start again for the return leg on Friday, two days before Senegal's friendly against the United States.
Antoine Mendy, Yehvann Diouf's teammate, is also on Senegal's roster. But unlike the goalkeeper, Pape Thiaw has decided not to call up any backups. Indeed, on the Lions' right flank, the coach has several options, notably Krepin Diatta, Ilay Camara, and even Abdoulaye Seck, who is capable of playing on the right.
