Qualification Coupe du monde : la décision radicale de Gattuso en cas d’élimination de l’Italie
Known for his determination, determination, and outspokenness as a player, Gennaro Gattuso has lost none of his temperament as a coach. The iconic former AC Milan midfielder, now Italy national team coach, refuses to imagine the Squadra Azzurra missing the World Cup for a third consecutive time.
If this scenario were to occur, the 2006 world champion promised a radical decision:
"If we don't qualify for the World Cup, I'll move and live far away from Italy. I'm already a bit far away, I'll go even further," he said.
Italy's 3-0 victory in their qualifying match against Israel has, at the very least, secured their place in the play-offs. However, direct qualification remains a challenge. Relegated to three points behind Norway and with a goal difference 16 points lower with two matches remaining, the Squadra Azzurra will have to hope for a poor Norwegian performance against Estonia or a big win against Norway to move back into the lead.
A difficult scenario to envisage, but Italy still has every chance thanks to the potential play-offs.
