Qualification Coupe du monde : Ronaldo disjoncte, le Portugal sombre en Irlande
A bitter evening for Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in Ireland. After narrowly missing the opportunity to secure their World Cup qualification in the fourth round against Hungary (2-2), the Seleção found themselves trailing 2-0 to Ireland after 65 minutes. A terrible scenario that was about to get even worse.
Cristiano Ronaldo initially received a yellow card for elbowing Dara O'Shea in the Irish penalty area, before VAR ultimately sent him off. This was his first ever red card for the national team.
As a direct consequence, CR7 will miss the next match against Armenia, a crucial encounter. Indeed, after this defeat in Ireland, Portugal absolutely must beat Armenia to secure their qualification for the World Cup.
