Qualifications Coupe du Monde : l'Algérie et la Tunisie confortent leurs premières places, le Cameroun répond au Cap-Vert
The 7th day of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, African zone, continues.
Algeria and Tunisia consolidated their respective top spots in Groups G and H. After being held back for a long time by a valiant Burundi team, Algeria finally won (3-1) thanks to a brace from Baghdad Bounedjah (71st, 90+4). Thanks to this precious victory, the Fennecs (1st, 19 pts) now have a six-point lead over Mozambique (2nd, 12 pts), who travel to Uganda this Friday.
In Group H, Tunisia beat Liberia 3-0 thanks to goals from Mestouri (5th), Sassi (66th) and Saad (90+4). This victory allows the Carthage Eagles to consolidate their first place with a seven-point lead over Namibia (2nd, 12 pts), who host Malawi.
In Group D, Cameroon responded to Cape Verde by beating Eswatini (3-0). This victory allows the Indomitable Lions (2nd, 15 pts) to come back to within one point of Cape Verde (1st, 16 pts), whom they will face on September 9 in Praia in a decisive clash.
Finally, in Group I, Ghana (1st, 16 pts), held by Chad (1-1), sees Madagascar (2nd, 13 pts) and Mali (3rd, 12 pts) return to the race, winners respectively of the Central African Republic (2-0) and the Comoros (3-0).
