Author of the decisive goal for Senegal against Egypt in the semi-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) on Wednesday in Tangier, Sadio Mané scored his 11th goal in the competition, in six editions played.

By scoring in the 78th minute of the semi-final against Egypt, the Senegalese striker joined a very exclusive club of players who have scored the same number of goals in the Africa Cup of Nations finals. These players are Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast, Patrick Mboma of Cameroon, Mohamed Salah of Egypt, and the current Egyptian national team coach, Hossam Hassan.

With 28 appearances in the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Al Nassr striker surpasses Congolese Ndaye Mulamba, Tunisian Francileudo Santos and Ivorian Joël Tiéhi, who have ten goals each, in the ranking of the best scorers in the history of the competition.

At 33, Sadio Mané (28 matches in six AFCON tournaments) continues to impress and break records. He stands out not only for his attacking efficiency, but also for his constant contribution to the team and his selflessness in serving his teammates.

The Senegalese international also provided his ninth assist in the Africa Cup of Nations during this tournament, becoming the competition's all-time leading assist provider. Since the start of AFCON 2025, the Lions' playmaker has scored two goals and provided three assists.

Winner of the 2021 AFCON, Sadio Mané is now close to securing a second continental title with Senegal in the Kingdom of Morocco.

Cameroonian Samuel Eto'o remains the all-time top scorer in the Africa Cup of Nations with 18 goals. The current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation won the competition twice (2000 and 2002). He participated in six tournaments (2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010).

Ivorian Laurent Pokou (1967-1980) scored 14 goals in four editions (1968, 1970, 1974 and 1980). He died on November 13, 2016 in Abidjan.

Nigerian Rashidi Yekini (1983-1998) scored 13 goals in five appearances and won the AFCON in 1994. He died on May 4, 2012 in Ibadan, at the age of 48.

Egyptian Hassan El-Shazly is in fifth place with 12 goals.
