Sénégal-Mauritanie : Dame Mbodj s’explique sur la flambée des prix des billets et brandit une menace de blocage du match au stade Abdoulaye Wade
As the highly anticipated match between Senegal and Mauritania (October 14) approaches, counting for the final day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, a controversy is growing over the increase in ticket prices. While fans are expressing their dissatisfaction with this sudden increase, SOGIP, manager of the Abdoulaye Wade stadium, has clarified its position through its general manager, Dame Mbodj.
In a statement to Wiwsport, the latter denied any involvement of SOGIP in the price revision. "It is the federation that owes us money and we are demanding repayment of this debt. SOGIP has never increased the rental price of the Abdoulaye Wade stadium for three years. The amount therefore remains unchanged. We are in no way involved in the ticket price increase," he stated.
According to Dame Mbodj, the real source of the problem lies in the financial relationship between SOGIP and the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). For this match against Mauritania, he reveals that SOGIP demanded a formal payment commitment from the new federal team led by Abdoulaye Fall. This measure was taken to avoid past irregularities.
"For the previous match against Sudan, the federation did not sign a contract. For this match against Mauritania, we are asking the FSF to sign and commit to paying what is owed to us or to sign a moratorium on the debt," he demanded.
Dame Mbodj even threatened to block the match. According to him, without a signed agreement, the very holding of the match at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium could be compromised. "If she doesn't sign the invitation, there will be no excuse to play at the stadium," he warned, thus forcing the FSF to face up to its responsibilities.
While Lions fans eagerly await this West African derby, this financial crisis between the two entities could cast a shadow over this decisive day for the Lions' qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

Dame, on n'a pas élu Diomaye ton patron pour nous faire du chantage. C'est comme si on lui demandait de faire un changement réel avant de toucher ses 11 milliards de fonds politiques. Lui il fout rien depuis 18 mois et pourtant il bénéficie des fonds politiques et des privilèges.
Le stade ne vous appartient pas mais appartient à tous les sénegalais.
Pour des broutilles, vous comptez fermer le stade Abdoulaye Wade empêchant la tenue du match de qualification du Sénégal à la prochaine coupe du monde.
Vous nagez à contre courant pour qui connait le "tsunami" populaire.
La fédération sénégalaise de football pèse plus lourd qu'une ardoise de cent millions de francs.
