Sénégal-Mauritanie : grosse bizarrerie dans la billetterie
Senegal will host Mauritania on October 14 at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium for the tenth and final day of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. As leaders of Group B, the Lions could celebrate their third World Cup ticket in front of their home crowd. A major event is on the horizon.
Perhaps for this reason, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has raised ticket prices. But the surprise is that the cheapest tickets will cost more, while those reserved for "VIPs" have gone down.
Les Echos, which provided the information, reports that the price of a VIP box ticket has dropped from 100,000 to 50,000 CFA francs. That's a 50% reduction. Meanwhile, the newspaper continues, the prices of "cheap" tickets are skyrocketing, with increases of 300 to 400%.
For the Red, Yellow South and North stands and Yellow Center, details the same source, you have to pay, respectively, 3000 CFA francs (compared to 1000 CFA francs before), 10,000 (compared to 3000 before) and 20,000 (compared to 5000 before). The smallest increase, in relative value, concerns the annex boxes whose prices have gone from 15,000 to 20,000, or only a little more than 30% more.
It's as if the "poorest" had paid for the "richest." "This surprised the Lions' faithful, especially since the enthusiasm for this match is already at its peak," notes Les Échos. It hastens to add: "Despite this price shock, demand is not weakening."
