An inconsistent Senegal side suffered a 2-0 defeat against Brazil in a friendly match on Saturday. It was Pape Thiaw's first loss as manager of the Lions of Teranga. Here are the highs and lows of the game.
The tops
Pape Guèye
His performance wasn't quite up to the standard of his recent displays for the Lions, but the Villarreal player was one of the few Senegalese to stand out. Faced with the intensity and physical battle imposed by the Brazilians in midfield, Pape Gueye frequently managed to create space when playing out from the back. He also often opened up the game with his long passes to break the Brazilian press.
Moussa Niakhaté
The central defender was rarely outpaced. In the second half, he showed character to win against the numerous long balls from the Brazilians.
The flops
Pape Matar Sarr
At the home of their rivals, Arsenal, the "Golden Boy" had a disappointing match. Pape Matar Sarr was practically invisible for the first 45 minutes, missing easy opportunities whenever he had the ball. He was injured a minute after the start of the second half. A match to forget.
Ismail Jakobs

Edouard Mendy
Catastrophic: that's the word to describe the Senegalese goalkeeper's clearances. Against Brazil, Edouard Mendy gifted his opponents at least five scoring opportunities with his poor passes. In fact, after a good start by Senegal, it was the goalkeeper who let Brazil back into the game by misjudging two clearances that resulted in scoring chances for Brazil. Nos Lions ont joué facile et ont été pris de vitesse. Une équipe rapide comme le Brésil il faut toujours attaquer le porteur de ballon pour ne pas lui laisser le temps de réfléchir et éviter de se laisser mener à chaque fois.

Le Sénégal a joué en première mi-temps sans attaquant de fixation et le Brésil a fait avancer son bloc de 2 crans
Surnombre au milieu, nos attaquants étaient obligés de descendre
La défense a subi et a encaissé
La preuve, Jackson est entré la défense brésilienne n'est plus montée et le Sénégal a dominé tout le reste du match
Une autre erreur de Pape Thiaw, c'est l'entrée tardive de nos jeunes
Il aurait dû le faire dès la 55mn
le prochain match il faudrait qu'il commence par les remplaçants de ce soir
Brésil mounou niou et je crois qu'après la Can on doit aller chercher la Hollande, l'Allemagne, l'Italie et même l'Espagne
Nous avons le niveau de toutes les grandes équipes du monde
Il faut juste apprendre de ce match et prier que nos joueurs continuent d'être réguliers en championnat

L'erreur réside sur le fait d'accepter de rejouer un match amical avec le Brésil qu'on a déjà battu.
