In the absence of coach Pape Thiaw, who was ill, it was his assistant Teddy Pellerin who appeared before the press after the Lions' brilliant 4-0 victory against Mauritania. He discussed the key to his players' success.
"We're continuing what we've been doing since the break. The players are committed to the project and are taking the instructions seriously," he said at the outset.
Despite a large score, Teddy Pellerin was keen to highlight the rigor of the opponent and the need to adopt a patient approach.
“They were a compact opponent. We had to work with a lot of patience to move the block and avoid falling into the trap set by Mauritania. It's true that sometimes we should have made more movements to speed up the game, but we also had to avoid exposing ourselves to counterattacks.”
With this success, the Lions have qualified for the World Cup for the third consecutive time.
