CNDH : 35 agents de la Police nationale formés à l'identification des victimes de traite
The National Human Rights Commission of Senegal (CNDH) is launching, on May 18 and 19, 2026 at the National Police School in Dakar, the training session for operational staff of the General Directorate of the National Police (DGPN), within the framework of the POC II program.
This activity is part of the human rights observation, monitoring, supervision, and training mission project implemented by the CNDH with the support of its partner CIVIPOL, within the framework of the POC II program funded by the European Union. The project aims in particular to strengthen the integration of human rights into the interventions of the Internal Security Forces.
The opening ceremony was marked by a welcome address from the President of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), Professor Amsatou Sow Sidibé, who commended the security forces for their commitment to promoting and protecting human rights. She emphasized the importance of a security approach grounded in respect for human dignity, particularly in the context of migration.
Jean-Marc Pisani, ambassador of the European Union delegation in Dakar, offered his congratulations and encouragement to all those involved in this capacity-building initiative.
Speaking on behalf of the National Police Directorate, Deputy Director Abdou Wahab Sall welcomed the CNDH's initiative and announced the upcoming signing ceremony for a partnership agreement between the CNDH and the National Police. He also paid a heartfelt tribute to President Amsatou Sow Sidibé, whom he introduced as one of his former professors at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. Finally, he encouraged the trainees to make the most of this training and congratulated Divisional Commissioner Sanou Diouf, Director of Training for the National Police, for her dedication.
Over two days, the 35 participating police officers will benefit from several modules covering topics including the foundations of human rights, the legal framework applicable to migration, the prevention of human rights violations, the identification of victims of trafficking and migrants who are victims of trafficking, as well as the control methods used by criminal networks.
Through this initiative, the CNDH reaffirms its commitment to supporting the defense and security forces in promoting security interventions that respect human rights and comply with Senegal's international commitments.
