Under the coordination of Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng, Head of Regional Public Security (SRSP), a large-scale security operation was carried out in Dakar on the night of Friday 12 to Saturday 13 September 2025, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This large-scale operation, which is part of the strategy to combat crime and the feeling of urban insecurity, mobilized more than 200 police officers and more than 30 vehicles to cover several sensitive areas of Dakar.

A total of 175 arrests

In total, 175 individuals were arrested for various reasons:

103 for identity verification;

37 for public drunkenness;

01 for possession and trafficking of Kush (47 tablets seized);

03 for offer and transfer of Indian hemp (5 kg and 500 g);

05 for possession and use in association of Indian hemp (02 joints and 04 cones);

16 for necessity of investigation;

01 for receiving stolen goods;

01 for theft in a group committed at night with the use of asphyxiating gas;

02 for brawl on the public highway;

01 for assault and battery;

04 for possession and use of cellulosic products;

01 for unnatural acts and pedophilia.

At the same time, police seized 215 items for various traffic violations. Six motorcycles were also immobilized and two vehicles were impounded, according to Seneweb sources.

The central police station in Dakar and its units, on the front line during this operation, reaffirm their determination to strengthen the security of the population and to fight against all forms of delinquency.
