Starlink au Sénégal : Mamoudou Ibra Kane dénonce le manque de transparence
The leader of the "Tomorrow is Now" movement, Mamoudou Ibra Kane, reacted strongly to the announcement of the availability of Starlink, the internet company of American billionaire Elon Musk in Senegal, while highlighting the acquisition of Israeli spyware by the state of Senegal.
In a message posted today on the social network X (formerly Twitter), the journalist and politician, through a video which he claims contains damning revelations, accuses the Senegalese government of having acquired Israeli spyware, Robin, marketed by BoldAnalytics. This comes a few months after President Bassirou Diomaye Faye came to power.
According to the journalist, this revelation comes at a time when the regime has led the Senegalese people to believe in its opposition to the policy of the Jewish state towards Palestine.
The politician indicated that the Robin software had been presented to the national police, which, he said, raises concerns about the use of the software.
The Pegasus software, which had already caused a scandal under the presidency of Macky Sall, has reportedly been replaced by Robin, also from Israel.
Meanwhile, Mamoudou Ibra Kane deplores the presence of Elon Musk's Starlink without any further details from the government regarding the financial terms of the operation. "The Sonatel union members are quite right to denounce 'a lack of transparency,'" he stated.
For the journalist, it's not the principle of working with Starlink that's the issue, but the "nebulous" nature of the license granted to the company owned by the famous American billionaire. "What, for that matter, is happening to the government's program with MVNO operators to democratize access to internet services?" he asks.
In the end, Mamoudou Ibra Kane called on the government to explain itself without delay on these two issues, which concern the security, finance, communication and sovereignty of Senegal.
Even better, he invited the national police leadership to react to the information relating to the Israeli spyware.
