Patrimoine, Tourisme et "Made in Sénégal" : Le Ministère de la Culture adopte un budget 2026 ajusté
The draft 2026 budget of the Ministry of Culture, Crafts and Tourism (MCAT) was examined and adopted this Saturday, November 15, 2025. Minister Amadou Ba defended a slightly lower budget, but one oriented towards the enhancement of heritage, the revival of tourism and the promotion of the national label.
The MCAT budget for the 2026 fiscal year is set at 28.35 billion CFA francs in payment appropriations (PA). This amount represents a moderate decrease of 530.95 million CFA francs, or -1.8%, compared to 2025.
According to the Minister, this adjustment is under control and is part of a logic of rationalizing priorities and better allocating public resources, in line with the objectives of the Senegal 2050 Framework.
Minister Amadou Ba presented a plan structured around six major axes to make culture, crafts and tourism "major levers for job creation" and economic diversification.
Despite budget constraints, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Tourism (MCAT) reaffirms its ambition to transform the sector into an engine of inclusive and sustainable growth. "Our ambition is to make culture and tourism sectors that drive growth, social cohesion, and international influence. Every franc invested must contribute to value creation and the promotion of Senegalese ingenuity," emphasized Amadou Ba.
In 2026, initiatives will focus on enhancing listed sites, promoting regional tourist circuits and modernizing artisanal infrastructure.
