Thiès : Les prix des transports doublent au garage Dakar à l'approche de la Tabaski
With the Tabaski celebrations just days away, tensions are rising at the Dakar bus station in Thiès. Passengers are protesting excessive fare increases imposed by some drivers, leaving them in what they consider an unbearable situation.
According to several passengers, drivers are implementing significant fare increases on several routes connecting different regions of the country. For the Thiès-Kaolack route, seven-seater vehicles are now charging 8,000 FCFA instead of the usual 3,500 FCFA, more than double the normal fare. Meanwhile, buses have set the price of the trip at 4,000 FCFA instead of the usual 3,000 FCFA.
The same situation is observed on the Thiès-Nioro route, where the cost of transport is now set at 10,000 FCFA. Similar increases are also reported on several other routes.
Faced with this situation, travelers are calling on administrative authorities and relevant services to restore order in roadside garages and ensure compliance with regulated fares. Users fear further price increases in the immediate future of Tabaski, a period marked by significant travel across the country.
Many travellers are therefore calling for increased controls to allow people to travel in better conditions and at more affordable costs.
