Déclaration sur la mort de Moustapha Ba : Adama Gaye enfonce le porte-parole du gouvernement
The controversy is growing following the government spokesperson's statement on the death of the former state treasurer. "Moustapha Ba was killed in suspicious circumstances," Moustapha Ndiack Sarré stated in a video released by the press and widely commented on social media.
This statement reinforces Adama Gaye's position, even though he was taken to court last November for making the same comments. In a jubilant video, the journalist reflects on this mishap.
"Today, the government's spokesperson, Moustapha Ndieck Sarré, publicly stated that Mouhamadou Moustapha Ba, Senegal's former finance minister, had been killed. If you remember correctly, this is exactly what I had alluded to during an interview on November 20, 2024, on a Senegalese television channel. The very next day, the state security services summoned me," he recalled, simultaneously targeting Moustapha Sarr, who was under fire from critics.
Following this interview, Mr. Gaye was held in police custody for 72 hours before being brought before the public prosecutor and then tried on Friday, November 29, 2024 for defamation and dissemination of false news.
"I wasn't just talking empty words," he boasts. "I was relying on information I had, and especially on the fact that the public prosecutor had said that Moustapha Ba's death was not natural."
"Today," the journalist rejoices, "the State of Senegal recognizes what I said. The State of Senegal, through the government spokesperson, recognizes that I should never have been interrogated and taken into custody and forced to face a judge on November 29, 2024."
Thus, denouncing this "violation" of his rights, he is demanding compensation from the State of Senegal.
