Déthié Fall annonce l'ouverture imminente de nouveaux tronçons autoroutiers
At the government press conference on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, highlighted the scale of ongoing projects, while also announcing several imminent commissionings. He revealed that several projects are already completed and await only the President's approval for their inauguration. These projects primarily concern roads and connectivity in agricultural areas, with strategic routes such as: Dahra – Beuleukhé (with a spur to Yang-Yang), Kahone – Mboss – Gniby, and Tivaouane – Darou Alpha – Pambal.
Deliveries imminent on several routes
The minister also announced the upcoming completion of a 72-kilometer road project, initially suspended due to delays, now expected on May 25th, with provisional acceptance to follow. Regarding the toll highway network: the Mbour-Thiadiaye section will open on April 29th, as instructed by the Head of State, while the Thiadiaye-Kaolack section will be operational between May 20th and June 5th.
Regarding the continuation of the highway program, Déthié Fall indicated that phase 2 is complete, with an initial 200-kilometer section at an estimated cost of 80 billion CFA francs. The proposed routes are awaiting approval from the Head of State. This project is part of a broader vision, particularly towards eastern Senegal, presented as a future strategic driver of development.
Advanced roadworks across the entire territory
Among the ongoing projects, Déthié Fall cited the Keur Momar Sarr – Richard-Toll road (74 km), which is 35% complete. The Kidira – Bakel section (lot 1) is 94% complete, while the Thionck Essyl – Ziguinchor section is 100% finished. It should be noted that other projects are already underway but awaiting official launch, including Sandiara – Ndiaganiao and Mékhé – Pékesse – Thilmakha. In the area of urban mobility, the minister also mentioned the Diamniadio viaduct as a major infrastructure project currently under construction.
521 km of highways, of which 221 are already in service
In summary, Déthié Fall presented a total figure: 521 kilometers of planned highways, of which 221 kilometers are already in service, with the remainder under construction. The government presents this figure as proof of accelerated infrastructure investment, with a clear objective: to improve mobility and support the country's economic development.
