Eramet Grande Côte : un moteur de l’économie nationale selon Frédéric Zanklan
At the helm of Eramet Grande Côte, Frédéric Zanklan upholds one conviction: mining must be a lever for sustainable development in Senegal. In this interview, the CEO reiterates that the priority remains economic contribution. By 2024, more than 120 billion CFA francs will have been reinvested into the national economy, representing 71% of the company's turnover. At the same time, Eramet is developing an active social investment policy.
On the environmental front, the company is also continuing its commitments: the commissioning, from 2026, of a hybrid solar power plant in Diogo will reduce its CO₂ emissions by 20%, while 1,000 hectares of rehabilitated land will be returned to the State of Senegal by the end of 2025.
Finally, GCO is aiming for international IRMA (Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance) certification. Once obtained, this will make the company the first certified mineral sands mine in West Africa, a milestone that confirms its commitment to operating according to the highest global standards.
