Lancement du Projet Édupolsen: La police sénégalaise s'invite à l'école pour une éducation citoyenne

The Issa Kane primary school hosted the official launch ceremony of the Edupolsen Project (Senegalese Police Education) on Monday, November 3, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Director General of the National Police, Inspector General Mame Seydou Ndour.

This innovative initiative aims to establish an educational police force, bringing law enforcement closer to the school system in order to promote civic values, citizenship and mutual trust between the police and the public.

A school, memories, and a powerful symbol

It was with great emotion that the Director General of Police returned to the benches of the Issa Kane school, where he completed his primary education.

"It is here that I learned, dreamed and forged the values that have guided my entire career. Returning to this school to launch Édupolsen is for me a powerful symbol: that of returning to the roots, of transmission and of commitment to future generations," said Mr. Ndour.

Visibly moved to be returning to his childhood school, Mame Seydou Ndour praised the role of teachers and recalled that "school is the place of all possibilities".

His former teacher, Mr. Grégoire Birame Ngom, who was present at the ceremony, gave an emotionally charged testimony.

"I already sensed the sparks of destiny in you. A master does not raise a student to be admired, but so that he may one day surpass him. Today you are living proof that gratitude is a rare and beautiful virtue."

A large quantity of teaching materials was donated to the institution and a classroom will now be sponsored in the name of the Director General of Police, Mame Seydou Ndour.

Edupolsen, a new approach to the police profession

The Édupolsen project is part of a prevention and civic education approach.

According to the Director General of Police, the aim is "to make the school a laboratory of trust and citizen collaboration".

"We want to bring the police to the school, but also the school to the police," he explained.

Indeed, police officers will regularly intervene in establishments to address topics such as: respect for the symbols of the nation, road safety, prevention of violence and addictions, the dangers of the internet and the republican values of living together.

In return, educational visits will also be organised in police stations to allow students to discover police professions.

A strong message to the youth

In his address, the Inspector General of Police urged students to believe in their dreams and to respect their teachers.

"School is the first door to all your dreams. Work hard, be proud of your country, and know that the national police are by your side."

Before closing the ceremony, Mr. Ndour expressed his thanks to the Ministry of National Education, the local authorities, and all the teachers and partners who took part in this ceremony.

n'est ce pas cette même police qui avait pris de jeunes adolescent comme bouclier lors des manifestations de 2022-2023 !!!! Difficile de redorer votre blason tant que justice n'est pas faite.
