Magal de Touba : Dakar Dem Dikk renforce son dispositif pour assurer la fluidité des voyageurs
On the occasion of the Grand Magal of Touba, the Dakar Dem Dikk (DDD) company has put in place a reinforced system to support pilgrims and guarantee optimal travel conditions.
A rigorous technical program
Abdoulaye Dione, technical director of DDD, detailed the measures implemented:
- Daily technical inspections of vehicles, carried out from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., covering the braking system, lighting, passenger comfort and safety.
- Support by technical assistance throughout the Dakar-Touba journey.
- Deployment of breakdown vehicles positioned in Thiès, Mékhé, Diourbel and as far as Touba to intervene in the event of a breakdown.
Upon arrival in Touba, each vehicle will be subject to a counter-expertise to ensure a safe return for the pilgrims, Mr. Dione specified.
A strengthened logistical organization
Daouda Diawara, urban transport coordinator, announced the establishment of four departure points: Colobane, the National Arena, Yoff, and Ngalandou Diouf in Rufisque. A total of 480 buses will be used for the outward and return journeys, with a planned distribution:
- 150 buses on Sunday
- 170 buses on Monday
- 160 buses on Tuesday
Departures are scheduled between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. "I urge travelers to arrive at the sites early," Diawara insisted. To better meet demand, part of Dakar's urban network will be temporarily reduced to prioritize the transportation of pilgrims.
Rates maintained and civic engagement
Fares remain unchanged, set at 4,000 CFA francs per passenger for the trip to Touba. "This is an opportunity for Dakar Dem Dikk to contribute to this international event," said Mr. Diawara, reaffirming the company's commitment to facilitating the pilgrims' travel in the best possible conditions.
