Scandale médical : Une femme accouche devant l'hôpital et perd son nouveau-né après un "refus de prise en charge"
An avoidable tragedy occurred last Friday in Diourbel, where a pregnant woman was forced to give birth outside the Heinrich Lübke Regional Hospital. The newborn, who required an incubator, unfortunately did not survive.
"A fatal refusal of care"
Astou Ndiaye, who lives in a village in the commune of Ngohé, first went to the Diourbel health district, where medical staff reportedly advised her to take a taxi to the regional hospital immediately. The reason: her baby would need an incubator after birth.
Arriving by taxi at the Heinrich Lübke Regional Hospital with a full-term pregnancy, the patient was unable to receive medical care. According to her version of events reported by Baol Times, the midwife on duty refused her access, citing a lack of space due to ongoing renovations at the maternity ward.
A public birth
After leaving the hospital, Astou Ndiaye gave birth on the street, watched helplessly by the taxi drivers present. It was only after being informed of the situation that the maternity ward finally took charge of the mother and her newborn. But it was already too late: the baby had died.
Contacted by Seneweb on Saturday evening, the hospital director, Dr. Bocar Sow, preferred to wait for the official report from the head of the department concerned before making a final decision on the matter. He nevertheless acknowledged that the situation should never have occurred.
"This shouldn't have happened if the system was functioning normally. Once the patient came to the health center or hospital, she shouldn't have left under certain conditions. These are shortcomings that should have been avoided," said Dr. Sow.
The director also explained the difficult context in which the facility is currently operating. Since last year, the maternity ward has been under construction, significantly reducing capacity. Of the 50 beds normally available at the hospital, only about ten are accessible due to the renovations.
"We have set aside a section for emergencies. Since we no longer have the capacity to accommodate several patients, we have recommended that health centers treat patients who present themselves at their level," he told Seneweb by phone, while emphasizing that he has given clear instructions to his staff for handling emergency cases.
A referencing defect pointed out
Dr. Sow also noted a malfunction in the care chain: "The patient was not referred to our department, otherwise she would have been evacuated in an ambulance."
The management is now awaiting the official report from the head of department to "ascertain responsibilities" in this affair which has caused great emotion in Diourbel.

On passe son temps, sur ce forum, à cracher sur les occidentaux et particulièrement la France. Sachez qu’en France, la sage-femme en question et l’hôpital qui l’emploie seraient déjà devant la justice. Il peut arriver qu’un hôpital manque de place mais, dans ce cas, on ne dit pas au patient «débrouille-toi, on ne te prend pas ». On contacte d’autres structures proches pour palier. Y avait moyen de la faire accoucher et de ne pas garder la mère.
On parle des féministes, mais quoi penser de la sage-femme ? A-t-elle seulement pris le soin de s’assurer de l’imminence de la sortie du bébé ? Je ne parle même pas de l’instinct protecteur qui caractérise la femme et qui, apparemment, n’habite pas son cœur. Pire, elle manque totalement de compétence. Elle a déshonoré son métier et son institution. Cette dame, si elle voit un jour une maman accoucher au bord d’un caniveau, tout porte à croire qu’elle va détourner son regard et passer son chemin. Honte à vous, sage-femme n’est pas qu’un métier, un gagne-pain. Si un jour le cancer vous rattrape et qu’on vous dit « on ne peut pas vous prendre en charge faute de lit », vous apprécierez. Comment pourrez-vous retrouver le sommeil après le crime que vous venez de commettre ?
Je ne remets en cause personne mais je parle dans le cadre général.
Le Président, le premier ministre et le ministre de la Santé doivent d abord être des modèles. Pareil pour les directeurs et chefs de services.
Au lieu de parler de ses genres de choses qui gangrènent notre cher pays, ils nous tympanisent avec celles et ceux qui piller nos ressources pour leur libération. Sans cette boucherie financiere nos femmes n'accoucheraient guère dans les rues

Aux mêmes moments Diomaye se tape 11 milliards de fonds politiques par an soit 916 millions par mois et Sonko 9 milliards de fonds politiques par an soit 750 millions par mois.
Ils nous ont trompés avec leurs promesses populistes mais on leur montrera notre déception en 2027.
Avant de parler de place il faut d'abord s'occuper de l'urgence en l'accueillant.
