Service numérique : Le Sénégal veut devenir le leader en Afrique
This report, which highlights the country's impressive progress, indicates that this digital expansion could open new doors in various sectors such as education, health, finance and agriculture, thus offering new opportunities for Senegalese people and the region as a whole.
Senegal now has only one ambition: to become the African leader in the digital sector. This was announced at the summit by Brelotte Ba, CEO of Sonatel.
“Digital technology is an important industry, not only because it contributes significantly to investment in a country, to land development, to training and to employment, but it is even more crucial as a catalyst for development. Today, it is clear that without digital technology, no substantial development is possible, whatever the field,” said Brelotte Ba.
"Our ambition is to become number 1 in Africa," added the CEO of Sonatel.
The Digital Africa Summit, held in Dakar, is a forum where leaders in the digital sector meet to exchange ideas and outline the continent's digital future. This 2025 edition aims to strengthen Africa's economic competitiveness and focus on projects that can improve people's lives while integrating digital solutions accessible to all.
Angela Wamola, GSMA's Africa Director, explained that the summit's primary objective is to build an inclusive and sustainable digital future for Africa, within the framework of Senegal's 2050 vision. This vision is based on pillars such as economic competitiveness, the quality of human capital, equity and inclusion.
