Walid Regragui « Ce ne sera facile ni pour eux, ni pour nous. »

On the eve of the Africa Cup of Nations final, Walid Regragui, coach of Morocco, spoke at a press conference to share his state of mind, his expectations and his vision of the match against Senegal.

For him, reaching the final in front of his home crowd is a unique moment: "It's done. Very happy to be able to play an Africa Cup of Nations final at home. It's the dream of any player and coach. Now, we have the last step, surely the most difficult, against one of the best teams in Africa and the world," he said.

He also emphasized the quality of the opponent: "Great coach, great players, strong squad, three finals out of the last four editions, that speaks for itself. It's good for African football that the two best teams meet in the final." For him, the objective is clear: "We're playing at home and we hope to rise to the occasion, make history, and make our fans happy."

The Moroccan coach also emphasized that the Moroccan players expressed their excitement and respect for the competition: "When you are a 20-year-old player and you see the veterans crying after qualifying for the final, you understand the importance of this moment. We are all excited to play this final and give our best in front of the people," he said.

Walid Regragui highlighted a key point for dominating the match: emotional control. "The team that naturally feels the pressure is Morocco, because we're playing at home. We'll have to manage our emotions, not put too much pressure on ourselves. A final is a football match; you have to play it, enjoy yourself, and in the end, win it," said the Moroccan coach.

He recalls that stress management was crucial in previous matches: "Against Tanzania, in a knockout match, the first 25 minutes were not enough. But afterwards, we corrected our course against Cameroon and Nigeria. The players understood that they needed to relax," the coach indicated.

Walid Regragui also praised the strength and experience of the Lions of Teranga: "Senegal is a team used to this kind of match. They are solid, confident and experienced. It will not be easy for them, nor for us."

For the Moroccan coach, a final comes down to details: "It's 50-50, with the crowd, maybe 51-52 for us. But the important thing is to stay focused and show the best football possible."
