In an interview with Le Soleil, Wally Seck revealed his new sources of inspiration, particularly from the Nigerian music scene with artists like Simi and Chidinma. Under the influence of his composer Akatché, he seems to be gradually moving away from the well-trodden paths of traditional mbalax.
"The afrobeat style really speaks to me. Sometimes I really get carried away with this style," the artist says with amusement.
He goes even further, relaying the opinion of his technical collaborator: "He thinks I have much more potential with the afrobeat, afro-pop style than with traditional mbalax." Always open to experimentation, he adds with a smile: "I sometimes try my hand at rap, but that's another story."
