Gamou Tivaouane 2025 : le comité d’organisation égrène un chapelet de mesures à prendre par les services de l’Etat
Flood risk prevention was at the heart of the National Development Committee dedicated to the preparation of the annual Mawloud Al Naby or Gamou of Tivaouane 2025, scheduled for September 5 or 6.
This meeting was held this Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security, under the chairmanship of General Jean Baptiste Tine. It was in the presence of a strong delegation of the General Caliph of Tidianes, Serigne Babacar Sy Mansour, Serigne Mansour Sy Djamil, Cheikh Omar Sy Djamil, Serigne Habib Sy Mansour, Serigne Moustapha Sy Al Amine and Serigne Abdoul Hamid Sy Al Amine, as well as religious dignitaries, COSKAS, the Zawiya Tidiane Cell, Federations and Dahiras.
The authorities highlighted the context of the rainy season, with torrential rains causing flooding in parts of Tivaouane. They unanimously agreed that rain should not be a factor blocking the accomplishment of the Mawloud. The committee requests the deployment of trucks to evacuate the waters, five days before and three days after the event, in order to ensure the fluidity of movement and the dignity of the holy places.
Health: between necessity and urgency
The health of the faithful sparked heated debate. The need to increase the supply of medicines was highlighted. There was talk of renovating the new hospital to meet the medical requirements of such a gathering.
Telecommunications: a silence to break
The notable absence of telephone services had worried the organizers. They found such a gap "unacceptable" in a world where, Diakoula Cissé of the Zawiya Tidiane Unit recalled, "Communication is the key to coordination." Thus, the CND reiterated the need for an immediate strengthening of network coverage and the establishment of dedicated links to ensure the fluidity of communication, both for the organizers and the faithful.
An organization extended by the Bourd
It was recalled that the Bourd, a collective recitation that takes place over ten days before the Gamou, extends the actual duration of the event and increases its logistical requirements. Accommodation, sanitation, health, and security: everything must now be calibrated to this extended timeframe.
A call for shared responsibility
Minister Jean Baptiste Tine praised everyone's commitment, while calling for collective responsibility, so that this 2025 edition is both safe, healthy and worthy of the memory of Sheikhal Seydi El Hadji Malick Sy Maodo (Rta). In an address imbued with gravity but also hope, the Minister recalled that: "Rain is a blessing, not a hindrance; it is up to us to tame its effects so that the light of Mawlid shines without shadow."

Encore une occasion pour le gaspillage de nos maigres ressources par l'état.
