Faced with the increasing presence of minors in nightlife venues, the Conakry juvenile prosecutor's office is taking a tougher stance. Bars, nightclubs, hotels, beaches, brothels, and entertainment venues are now under close surveillance: "No one under the age of 18 should be admitted."

In a statement published this Thursday, the prosecutor's office reminds "with the utmost solemnity" that it is strictly forbidden to admit minors into all establishments and leisure venues in the capital.

The institution specifies that any person under the age of 18 is considered a minor, in order to remove any ambiguity for operators who are often tempted to turn a blind eye.

This measure is based on articles 790 to 794 of the Child Code, which the public prosecutor's office says it intends to apply "without compromise." Managers of these establishments are thus warned: any violation will expose its perpetrators to immediate legal proceedings.

But the warning is also directed at parents and guardians, who are urged to fully assume their responsibilities. According to the prosecutor's office, they have a legal obligation to ensure that minors are not out unaccompanied at night.

The statement concludes by warning that the public prosecutor's office will immediately initiate legal proceedings against any person or entity violating these provisions. Judicial police officers and relevant units are instructed to ensure the strict application of these measures "with diligence and firmness."

A clear signal: in Conakry, zero tolerance will now be the rule.
