Mali : Plainte déposée contre l’Algérie à la Cour internationale de Justice après la destruction d’un drone
The Malian government announced on September 4, 2025, that it had referred Algeria to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing it of having destroyed a Malian reconnaissance drone (TZ-98D) on the night of March 31 to April 1, 2025, in Tinzawatène (Kidal region).
Bamako denounced an "act of aggression" and a violation of international law, believing that the destruction of the aircraft was intended to hinder operations against armed terrorist groups. The government statement referred to a series of "hostile actions" and went so far as to accuse Algiers of collusion with the terrorists.
By filing this complaint, the Malian authorities reaffirm their commitment to defending national sovereignty and call on states accused of supporting terrorism in the Sahel to cease posing a threat to regional security and collective stability.
