RDC: attaque au siège du parti politique d'opposition ADD Congo
In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the opposition political party ADD Congo denounced the attack on its Kinshasa headquarters on Monday, February 16. According to its president, Prince Epenge, several activists returning from a mass commemorating the martyrs of democracy—killed by Mobutu's political police in 1992—were targeted by men armed with machetes. "They were members of the Force of Progress, a militia affiliated with the ruling party, the UDPS," stated Prince Epenge, adding, "I have been involved in political activism for 21 years, but what I saw today was unacceptable. They destroyed everything. The police eventually evacuated us by truck. They came to kill me. It was extremely dangerous," he asserted. According to the opposition leader, three people were injured and are hospitalized. Prince Epenge announces that his party, a member of Martin Fayulu's Lamuka movement, will file a complaint tomorrow, Tuesday, February 17.
