Référendum en Guinée : Le Premier ministre Bah Oury vote à Lambanyi et répond à l’opposition

Prime Minister and Head of Government Amadou Oury Bah fulfilled his civic duty this Sunday, September 21, 2025, during the referendum. Accompanied by his children and loved ones, the Prime Minister cast his ballot at the Joseph Benjamin Laurence 1 School Group (JBL), located in the Lambanyi Waréya neighborhood, not far from his home.

A very important step in the history of our countryUpon leaving, Bah Oury emphasized the historical importance of this referendum, which, according to him, paves the way for a return to constitutional order if the "YES" vote wins. "It is more or less similar to those of 1958, 1990, and now 2025, since it is a very important step in the history of our country. I hope that this constitutional project will garner a strong turnout tonight, with a massive vote for "YES." This will herald a new political and institutional period for the Republic of Guinea. It is the beginning of another era. I am very happy, like all those participating, to contribute to this landmark construction," he said.

Response to opposition criticism

Asked by journalists about the opposition's criticism that the draft constitution is "tailor-made" for the current regime, the Prime Minister responded bluntly: "Let them say what they want, because that is also the role of democracy. There can never be unanimity. The constitutional principle that is being adopted also allows for minority and non-consensual attitudes. They are only playing their part, and that is normal."

An “exemplary” campaign

In conclusion, the former Minister of National Reconciliation during the 2009 transition praised the peaceful atmosphere that marked the referendum process. "We witnessed an exemplary campaign, with a voter registration card collection rate of around 95 to 97% everywhere. All of this took place in a friendly and fraternal environment, without clashes. It is an excellent example of a citizen process that, I hope, will lastingly transform the way politics is conducted in Guinea."
