Bounkiling : Plaidoyer pour la santé mentale et le bien-être des enfants Médina

International Family Day was celebrated this Friday, May 15, at the Medina Wandifa health post in the Bounkiling department.

This meeting brought together local authorities, education stakeholders and partners involved in child protection.

The goal was to raise awareness among families about their role in the education and well-being of children.

Speaking at the event, the deputy mayor of the commune of Medina Wandifa, Daffe Bayo, welcomed the support of the partner Enda jeunesse Action, which he urged to increase this type of activity in order to strengthen children's education within families.

According to him, a stable and supported family remains a pillar for the academic and social success of young people.

For his part, Abdoulaye Coly, director of the Academic Center for School and Vocational Guidance (COSP) in Sédhiou, reiterated that the family is the primary institution for a child's socialization. He emphasized the need to place greater emphasis on children's mental health, stressing that a healthy society depends on well-balanced children who are well-supported within their family environment. Finally, he asserted that family living conditions must be conducive to a child's cognitive and intellectual development.

Participants also discussed the challenges related to education, family communication, and the psychosocial support of children.
