Back to school in Sédhiou: The traditional inspection tour by the authorities

Yesterday, Wednesday, as usual, the start of the new school year was marked by the traditional tour of schools by the regional authorities. The objective of this mobilization was to ensure the smooth start of classes, to verify the effectiveness of the measures put in place, and to encourage the entire educational community to begin the school year peacefully.

This tour, led in particular by the regional governor, Diadia Dia and the Academy Inspector (IA), Cheikh Yaba Diop, accompanied by the heads of regional education services, follows the regional development committee (CRD) held recently to prepare for the opening of classes.

This CRD had made it possible to take urgent measures, such as cleaning and disinfecting schools to ensure a healthy environment, as well as the delivery of new batches of desks and benches intended to fill the deficits in certain establishments.

The Academy Inspector reassured the stakeholders about the internal arrangements to be made to proceed with deployments if necessary.

Another key issue addressed during these visits was discipline and compliance with the new national guidelines. Authorities recalled and welcomed the ban on mobile phones in schools, which many considered an important step towards improving student concentration and, consequently, the quality of learning.

The issue of public health was also central. In a context marked by the circulation of certain diseases, school principals were urged to redouble their vigilance and ensure that individual protection measures are constantly reminded to students.
