L’ambassade du Mali à Paris fulmine après une publication du quotidien français "La Croix"
The Malian embassy in Paris reacted on Wednesday to a publication in the French daily newspaper "La Croix". Titled "Tuaregs conquering Azawad, in northern Mali", the article, according to the diplomatic mission, conflates the Tuareg population with "FLA terrorists".
"Azawad does not correspond to any defined territorial entity in Mali."
“Attributing the name ‘Tuareg’ to the FLA terrorists is an insult to the large and dignified Tuareg community of Mali, which only aspires to live in peace and security in order to devote itself to its daily activities and tasks. This is practically impossible because of the terrorist violence to which the FLA and its JNIM terrorist allies have subjected the most dignified and representative Tuareg populations of this noble community, who are fighting for the peace, security, unity, and development of their homeland,” denounced the Malian embassy in Paris.
He also believes that the newspaper failed to consult "historians and anthropologists about the misuse of the term Azawad, which does not correspond to any defined territorial entity in Mali."
Contrary to "the claims reported by 'La Croix', the situation on the ground is evolving favorably."
The embassy also accuses the newspaper of having deliberately sided with the terrorists by giving them a platform, "silenced the reality of the Malian armed forces' superiority on the ground."
For the diplomatic representation, the real information to remember about Mali is the continuation of operations to secure the entire territory by the FAMA, particularly in Kidal, in order to restore peace, stability and the authority of the State.
"The situation on the ground is evolving favorably, contrary to the claims of the newspaper 'La Croix'", the embassy assures.
Ensure "cross-checking of sources"
The embassy also encouraged the newspaper to ensure "balanced and impartial reporting in accordance with the principles it upholds as a media outlet for analysis, dialogue, and a plurality of voices." The embassy emphasized that "it is essential to respect the fundamental principles of journalism, including cross-checking sources and involving all relevant parties."
