Surrounded by its "reference partners" including the Jambaar consortium at the Transport and Logistics Innovation Fair (SITL 2026) which opened on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in Paris, the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD) set its sights on the sub-regional hub, thus indicating its "new identity" through the voice of its Director of Strategy and Partnerships, Mr. Momar Ngary Ba.
The charm offensive by the Autonomous Port of Dakar, the Jambaar consortium and other port partners struck a chord at SITL 2026. "We are at a decisive turning point," said Momar Ngary Ba unequivocally.
“The Jambaar consortium is one of the first links in this new approach. The first steps built with reference partners to move towards a multidimensional sector, a multifunctional terminal on Pier 4,” he explains, specifying that this partnership “also combines the development of regional ports, the logistical support of fairly substantial maritime groups, quite referenced in the sector so that we can move forward.”
With ambition in the pipeline, Momar Ngary Ba stated that the Jambaar project, signed in December 2025, reflects a strong ambition of the PAD for Dakar's current role and the development of Ndayane.
“It is with great honor that we were invited by the Port of Dakar to participate in a joint stand with port stakeholders at this trade fair,” said Mr. Omar Blondin Diop, Deputy Director General of Jambaar TPM, adding that: “Jambaar, which has just started its port and maritime project, aims to decongest the port of Dakar in order to facilitate the handling, loading and unloading of ships, to streamline the system and modernize the infrastructure.”
"In the first phase, it is a question of modernizing Pier 4, of investing on a large scale in the major infrastructure of Pier 4 in order to better accommodate the large deep-sea vessels that come from abroad and depart from Dakar," continues Mr. Diop.
“Next comes phase 2 of the project dedicated to river-sea traffic, that is to say the connectivity between the Port of Dakar and the ports of the regions. We have planned to develop this maritime service between Dakar and Kaolack, Dakar and Ziguinchor, Dakar and Saint-Louis, Dakar and Ndakhonga, needless to say that Dakar is only the starting point since the cargoes from these regions will be more easily accessible to the port of Dakar,” said the Deputy Director General of Jambaar TPM.
Speaking about the Ndayane port under construction, Momar Ngary Ba specifies that the precise commissioning deadlines are set for September 2028. "It is now that we must anticipate in order to have the best partners in the world, because we want to position our country at the top of the pyramid to better serve our country's economy."
"As a reminder, the signage of the Autonomous Port of Dakar has changed and, well beyond that, the positioning, the vision, the plan," said Mr. Ba, maintaining that the Autonomous Port of Dakar will set sail for unprecedented navigation in its history.
“Today we are launching our strategic plan, which sets new horizons for us, and this is part of the new dynamic in our country where we are called upon to go beyond what we have been doing before. We are therefore in this trend of moving forward and seeking what we want, seeing the right indicators. We are doing this together, with the community, in order to create the necessary synergies.”
For the strategist, success is within reach, as the docks of Dakar, Kaolack, and Ziguinchor will soon be launching new offerings. "The service we sell is co-created. We're talking about a supply chain, and a chain has several links. Since no link can start without the others, we need to be on the same page, share the same objectives, and fight the same battles to succeed together."
“We have combined these areas of expertise to revitalize the Autonomous Port of Dakar and make Senegal a true sub-regional hub,” added Mr. Diop.
As a reminder, it is at the invitation of the PAD that the Jambaar TPM consortium is participating in the three-day Transport and Logistics Innovation Fair (SITL 2026) which opens on March 31, 2026 in Paris.
