AES : indignation après une résolution du Parlement européen sur le Niger
The Confederation of Sahel States (AES) denounced, in a statement published on March 19, 2026 in Ouagadougou, a "serious interference" by the European Union, following a resolution of the European Parliament on the detention of Mohamed Bazoum in Niger.
The organization criticizes a position deemed selective, accusing the European institution of ignoring certain violations of international law and the persistent security crisis in the Sahel region.
The ESA also deplores an approach which it describes as paternalistic and reaffirms its commitment to the sovereignty of member states, believing that it has no lessons in governance to receive.
Finally, the Confederation assures that this resolution will have no impact on its political, economic and social trajectory.
