Aliou Bah, parcours d’un défenseur de la liberté
Born in 1984 in Labé, Mamadou Aliou Bah is a Guinean politician and author recognized for his constant commitment to freedom, democracy and the rule of law.
As president of the MoDeL party, he distinguished himself by his courageous stances against all forms of authoritarianism, whether under the rule of General Lansana Conté, President Alpha Condé, or today under the junta of General Mamadi Doumbouya.
An emblematic figure of civil society, Aliou Bah was one of the most prominent spokespeople for the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC), the political-citizen coalition that opposed the amendment of the Constitution in 2020.
His relentless fight for freedom and his denunciation of authoritarian excesses have earned him the respect of a large segment of the population, as well as international recognition.
By participating in several global exchange programs and forums, Aliou Bah has given a strong voice to an engaged and conscious Guinean youth.
But this uncompromising commitment also earned him reprisals.
He is currently being held in Guinea on politically motivated grounds, convicted of "insulting and defaming" the head of the military junta — a decision that his family and many organizations consider to be political persecution disguised as legal proceedings.
Aliou Bah's journey, between local commitment and international influence, makes him an emblematic figure in the defense of fundamental freedoms and resistance to oppression.
