Bénin : Le nouveau président Romuald Wadagni recrute Claudy Siar
Having been dismissed from France 24 and then RFI, Claudy Siar didn't remain unemployed for long. At the beginning of June, he was appointed by the President of the Republic as special advisor on culture, media, and Benin's visibility.
The Paris native, originally from Guadeloupe, was recently naturalized as a Beninese citizen. He discovered his Beninese ancestry a few years ago following a DNA test.
His mission will be to advise the president on cultural matters…
His ancestors are said to have originated from Ouidah and to be from the Zossoungbo lineage, the founders of the historic city. He also undertook a symbolic and spiritual journey in this city at the end of May.
His arrival in the Beninese institutional apparatus confirms the authorities' desire to rely on celebrities from the media world to further promote Benin's image.
His mission will be to advise the president on cultural matters and to contribute to the development and implementation of the country's media policy, while working to increase Benin's international visibility.
This responsibility is part of a comprehensive approach aimed at better structuring the country's image abroad.
"My team will be fully committed to Benin, our country."
In a post published on his Facebook page, the former star presenter of the show "Couleurs Tropicales" indicated that it was an "honor (for him) to serve Benin" and that he was fully aware of what is expected of him.
"The extraordinary human potential of the Beninese nation is a reality. My team will be fully committed to Benin, our country," he promised.
