Arrested last Monday, Natou Pedro Sakombi, the ex-wife of Kemi Seba, is now free. She was released yesterday, Friday, December 26, after appearing before the Court for the Repression of Economic Crimes and Terrorism (CRIET). This release does not mean the end of legal proceedings against her, as she has been summoned to appear in court again.
According to his Senegalese lawyer, Me Clédor Ly, the Beninese justice system accuses him of "money laundering, smuggling and tax fraud".
She is "innocence"
The Dakar-based lawyer said he was convinced that these charges "will fall flat and be dismissed" because his client is "innocent." He also praised "the public prosecutor's decision to release her." In his view, "it's a wise stance, because when an exhaustive eight-day investigation yields nothing, the person should be released and the case closed."
