Burkina Faso : Désormais, un cérémonial militaire mensuel en hommage à Thomas Sankara
On the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the assassination of Thomas Sankara, the Burkinabe government announced on October 15, 2025, that a military ceremony will now be held every Thursday of the month in memory of the father of the Revolution and his twelve companions. The announcement was made at the Thomas Sankara Memorial in Ouagadougou by Prime Minister Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo, representing the President of Burkina Faso.
The ceremony, marked by 21 cannon shots, brought together members of the government, foreign delegations and pan-Africanist figures such as Nathalie Yamb.
The Prime Minister recalled that Thomas Sankara remains a living inspiration, declaring: "Thomas Sankara is not a memory, he is a promise that we must keep."
