« Ce n’est pas un coup d’Etat » : L’ex-président nigérian Goodluck Jonathan commente la situation en Guinée-Bissau
This is unlikely to please President Embalo. Former Nigerian leader Goodluck Jonathan maintains that last Wednesday's military intervention in Guinea-Bissau "was not a coup d'état."
"For lack of a better term, I would say that it was a symbolic coup d'état," added Mr. Jonathan, speaking on the Symfoni YouTube channel.
"I'm almost 70 years old and I know how heads of state are treated in the event of a coup d'état."
The Nigerian man absolutely does not believe that a genuine coup could unfold in this way. “It was President Umaro Embalo who announced the coup. Not only did he announce the coup, but while it was happening, he used his phone to address the world's media and announce his arrest. I am Nigerian, I am almost 70 years old, and I know how heads of state are treated in the event of a coup. Everything suggests that no one arrested him. I am convinced of it,” declared Mr. Jonathan, who was in Guinea-Bissau at the time. He was leading the election observation mission for the West African Elders Forum.
"I demand that ECOWAS and the AU announce the results."
His viewpoint aligns with that of Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, who speaks of a "scheme" aimed at blocking the results of the November 23rd election.
For Jonathan, we should really be worried after this military intervention in Guinea-Bissau; especially when we are democrats.
He is urging ECOWAS and the African Union to publish the results of the general elections in the country.
“I demand that ECOWAS and the AU announce the results. They have the results because representatives of the AU and ECOWAS were present in all regions during the vote count. They cannot change these results. They must tally all these results and announce them. They cannot force the army to withdraw. They must announce the results, let the whole world know who won this election. And they have this responsibility to the world,” said the former resident of Aso Rock.

Il n' est pas mieux informé que la Présidence et les autres. Aussi notre Constitution n' a pas été changée en 2024. Le Président s' occupe de ce domaine. Donc Sonko devait se taire et non mettre notre Président dans une situation compliquée. Lui qui avait donné des instructions pour que le Président Embaló soit acceuli à Dakar. OUSSMANE parle vite, mal et beaucoup.
Le Sénégal ne devrait pas recevoir ce malfrat au départ.

J'ai écouté l'intervention de sonko concernant l'arrivée de Emballo à Dakar et honnêtement je n'ai entendu aucune menace. Juste l'avis d'un PM à qui on a demandé son avis
qu'ils le veulent ou non, les puissances étrangères occidentales, américaines, et russes, doivent savoir que l'afrique en a marre de se faire piller. les nouveaux dirigeants de demain, veulent maintenant une Afrique souveraine et unis. et les nouveaux dirigeants de demain feront tout pour cela. Le financement des armées djihadistes n'y feront rien. Le processus est lancé, et les états qui veulent une souveraineté, doivent travailler main dans la main pour construire se rapport de force qui permettrait enfin d'être libre financièrement
