CEDEAO : Le séminaire parlementaire déplacé à Abuja, des voix s’élèvent pour dénoncer le silence face à la répression au Togo
The ECOWAS Parliament has announced that "due to circumstances beyond its control," the second parliamentary seminar and the second extraordinary session of 2025, initially scheduled for Lomé, will now be held in Abuja, Nigeria. This decision, communicated by official note, has sparked strong reactions. Some believe that changing the venue cannot obscure the real concerns of the people, particularly those of Togo.
Behind this change of venue lie weighty questions: why do the Togolese people continue to be repressed, beaten, arbitrarily imprisoned, sometimes even killed and thrown into the Bé lagoon; why does ECOWAS remain silent in the face of constitutional coups d'état and why does this same ECOWAS remain silent in the face of so much oppression suffered by the Togolese people?
Despite this context, the author of the message assures that he remains available and committed to serving all the peoples of ECOWAS, in particular the Togolese people described as "brave and resilient."
Ultimately, he makes a strong appeal: "Another West Africa is possible and necessary. A sovereign, democratic, just and prosperous West Africa."
