Cellou Dalein Diallo saisit la Cour de justice de la CEDEAO contre l’État guinéen
Lawyers for former Prime Minister Cellou Dalein Diallo announced on Tuesday, November 25, that they had filed a request with the ECOWAS Court of Justice concerning two separate issues.
On the one hand, they are asking the regional court to acknowledge the spoliation of a property belonging to their client — his home in Dixinn, which was razed in 2022 by the ruling military junta.
On the other hand, they request that the Court recognize the abusive nature of the legal proceedings initiated by the CRIEF (Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses) against Mr. Diallo in the "Air Guinea" case.
In a press release, lawyers Amadou Diallo, William Bourdon and Vincent Brengarth described this action as "important", the result of "several years of reflection", believing that it aims to "allow their client to be fully restored to his rights".
They explain that they chose the regional route because of the lack of legal guarantees in Guinea. According to them, "appeals before domestic courts have no chance of success."
The opponent's lawyers add that the court decisions handed down so far against him are "manifestly wrongful," amounting to a denial of justice.
"Mr. Cellou Dalein Diallo had for a time, and without success, nurtured the hope of a return to reason by the authorities. He is therefore forced to move to a higher phase," they stated.
The lawyers denounce what they call "political-judicial harassment" and assert that the Guinean state has violated their client's fundamental rights, as recognized by national legislation and international instruments.
They are now calling on the ECOWAS Court of Justice to draw all the legal consequences of these alleged violations.
