Côte d'Ivoire: reconduction de la plupart des ministres, le frère de Ouattara nommé vice-Premier ministre
A large majority of Ivorian ministers were retained in the government on Friday during a reshuffle in which the brother of the head of state, the current Minister of Defense, retains his portfolio and obtains the title of Deputy Prime Minister.
This reshuffle comes a month after the parliamentary elections, which were largely won by the ruling party with nearly 80% of the seats. In October, President Alassane Ouattara was re-elected for a fourth term with almost 90% of the vote.
On Thursday, he had reappointed the outgoing Prime Minister, Robert Beugré Mambé.
And on Friday, a government of 35 ministers was announced by the presidency in a statement, in which about thirty are retained.
Defense Minister Téné Birahima Ouattara, influential brother of the head of state and often cited among his potential successors, retains his portfolio and becomes Vice Prime Minister, a new position.
Six women, the same as in the previous government, remain on the list. Kaba Nialé notably moves from the Economy to Foreign Affairs, with the rank of Minister of State.
Four ministers are leaving the government team, including the Minister of Agriculture, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, who has been in the government since 2011, at a time when the cocoa sector, of which Ivory Coast is the world's leading producer, is experiencing significant blockages.
Among the five new appointees, Hien Sié, the head of the port of Abidjan, is appointed to Infrastructure and Road Maintenance.
The main institutional change following the legislative elections was the election of Patrick Achi, former Prime Minister, as head of the National Assembly.
The position of vice-president, the constitutional successor to the head of state, was not affected by this reshuffle. It remains held by Tiemoko Meyliet Koné.
Alassane Ouattara is therefore starting his fourth term in continuity with the previous one, a status quo which should postpone for a few years the debates on the succession of the head of state.
At 84 years old, this five-year term must be his last, according to the terms of the current Constitution.

pour tenir le peuple, ce sont ses ex miliciens des "forces nouvelles" qu'il a fait recycler dans l'armée en les armant les équipant outrancièrement les faisant appeler pompeusement "forces spéciales". c'est littéralement une armée dans l'armée ivoirienne.
aujourd'hui malgré ses "réussites" économiques jamais la cote d'ivoire n'a compté autant d'immigrants. ils partent vers la libye la tunisie pour traverser la méditerranée ou ils viennent jusqu'au sénégal en mauritanie et au maroc pour aller en espagne. c'est le signe que quelque part les jeunes ne voient pas leur avenir dans leur pays. ces longévités au pouvoir ne mènent qu'à des lendemains troubles. son départ risque de raviver la crise.
