Coup d’état- déboires judiciaires : Sale temps pour Embalo
The bad news keeps piling up for Embalo. While we haven't finished talking about his fall in Bissau, he is now caught up in an old case of alleged fraud pending before the Senegalese courts.
According to the newspaper EnQuête, which gave the information, a Moroccan businesswoman accuses him of having defrauded her of movable property worth more than one billion CFA francs, within the framework of a business relationship.
According to the prosecution, the now former President of Guinea-Bissau allegedly placed several orders with the company run by the woman without paying. Several legal proceedings were initiated in this case between 2024 and 2025, but all were blocked by Emballo's position as President.
In addition to the criminal aspect of this case, the plaintiff had also petitioned the commercial court for a precautionary seizure of debts on the accounts of the accused.
In an order issued in December 2024, the court had determined that the incumbent President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau enjoys immunity from execution which prevents the implementation of a precautionary or enforcement measure against him, notes the newspaper EnQuête.
The lady's advisors hope to be able to revive the case following Emballo's overthrow.
