Dixinn : le train de Rusal fauche mortellement un homme d’une cinquantaine d’années

A tragedy occurred on the morning of Friday, November 7, 2025, in the Dixinn-Gare district, in the municipality of Dixinn, where a man in his fifties was fatally struck by a mining train belonging to the Rusal company, heading for Fria.

According to initial reports from the scene, the victim – still unidentified – was reportedly struck by the train while on the tracks. Alerted, officers from the Dixinn gendarmerie and the head of the local neighborhood council went to the scene to secure the area and try to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.

Near the body, authorities found a black bag, a pair of shoes, and various personal items.

"While searching the bag, we discovered two pairs of scissors, some tablets, a rosary, some clothes and a notebook containing several numbers," an officer on the scene said.

Unfortunately, calls made from these numbers did not allow the victim to be identified.

Witnesses say the man was returning from the Dixinn market and walking along the tracks, carrying cardboard boxes. He then reportedly stopped in the middle of the railway, motionless, despite shouts of alarm from passersby and security guards posted nearby.

“Some people even threw stones at him to make him react, but he didn’t move. By the time he looked ahead, it was too late: the train decapitated him,” testifies Aïcha Bangoura, a market vendor who witnessed the tragedy.

The president of the Dixinn-Gare district council, Ismaël Fatou Camara, confirms the incident.

“We were in a meeting when we were informed that a man had just been crushed by the Rusal train. We immediately alerted the police. The body was unrecognizable. We covered it with cardboard while waiting for the relevant services,” he explains, before adding:

"We regularly raise awareness among residents about the dangers of walking along the railway tracks, but unfortunately, many don't listen."

As the journalists were leaving the scene, the decapitated body was still there, awaiting the arrival of the forensic police for the usual investigations.
