Élections en Centrafrique : la MINUSCA au cœur de la logistique pour le 28 décembre
With the general elections of December 28 approaching, a decisive event for the stability of the sub-region, the president of the National Elections Authority (ANE), Dr. Mathias Barthélemy Morouba, reaffirmed the smooth progress of preparations during a meeting with the press in Bangui.
The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) will play a pivotal role in the final logistical phase, ensuring the transport of electoral materials, including ballot papers, throughout the country. Isolated areas such as Obo, Bangassou, Djema, Birao, and Am-dafock will benefit from this crucial support, guaranteeing the equipping of more than 6,300 polling stations.
“No polling station will be left behind. All will receive the necessary materials to allow citizens to express themselves freely,” said Dr. Morouba, emphasizing the close coordination with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which manages the printing of the ballots in Copenhagen. Voter cards, already available in the prefectures, will be distributed shortly, while the ballots will arrive in early December.
For the leader of the National Elections Authority (ANE), these elections transcend a mere administrative exercise: "Those who hold a voter's card hold power in their hands. The power to choose, the power to decide." Despite the familiar security challenges in Central Africa, he calls for a massive mobilization of Central Africans for a transparent and inclusive election.
This process, supported by MINUSCA alongside local forces, resonates particularly strongly in the neighboring DRC, where peace in the Central African Republic directly impacts regional security. Dr. Morouba thanked the international partners and emphasized: "If we want a stable and prosperous country, the time has come to vote."
