Forum de Lomé : Aminata Touré appelle à une réforme profonde de la CEDEAO et à une offensive africaine contre la pauvreté
Aminata Touré, former Prime Minister and High Representative of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, participated this Friday in the opening of the Peace and Security Forum in Lomé, Togo, chaired by Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé in the presence of his Liberian counterpart Joseph Boakai. In her speech, she called for a refoundation of regional integration in West Africa, insisting on an "ESA-ECOWAS consultation framework" to unite sister countries around an inseparable common future. "I recommended an ESA-ECOWAS consultation framework because we are sister countries and we have an inseparable common future," declared Touré, calling for a profound reform of ECOWAS.
According to her, the organization must devote itself exclusively "to serving the populations of our sub-region," overcoming differences to strengthen peace and collective security. She also launched a call for urgent action: "I have proposed an urgent African offensive to definitively end poverty, which is the source of all instability. As long as we remain so poor, the rest of the world will not respect us."
